About TAROM
About
TAROM Romanian Air Transport, established in 1954, has grown alongside Romania’s aviation sector. Operating under the Ministry of Transportation, the airline has been a member of the SkyTeam Alliance since June 25, 2010. TAROM serves over 50 destinations, including those through its code-share partners, and is part of the International Air Transport Association (IATA) since 1993.
With one of the youngest fleets in Europe, consisting of 25 aircraft, TAROM is committed to environmental sustainability through innovative practices aimed at reducing carbon emissions. Joining SkyTeam enhances its global reach, offering passengers access to a wider network of destinations, more frequent flights, and opportunities to earn and redeem miles through the alliance's loyalty program.
Class of Travel
TAROM has introduced seven new fare families—PROMO, LIGHT, SAVER, OPTIM, FLEX, BUSINESS SEMIFLEX, and BUSINESS FULLYFLEX—to enhance its service portfolio and meet passenger needs. These options prioritize flexibility, economy, and comfort, allowing travelers to select fares that best suit their preferences and budgets while ensuring a pleasant flight experience.
Each fare family offers a combination of tailored benefits, such as varying baggage allowances, mile accumulation in the Flying Blue program except in PROMO class, priority boarding for SkyTeam Elite members except in BUSINESS SEMIFLEX and and BUSINESS FULLYFLEX, and flexible reservation changes.
Business classes provide additional perks like multiple checked bags, free seat selection, and refundable options. TAROM’s diverse fare structure ensures there is an appropriate choice for every traveler.
Baggage Allowance
TAROM permits passengers to carry one hand baggage up to 55×40×20 cm on Boeing or Airbus aircraft and up to 35×30×20 cm on ATR 42/72 planes. Additionally, one personal item such as a purse or briefcase is allowed, with a total cabin weight limit of 8 kg. These rules apply to TAROM-operated flights, while code-share flights may have different regulations.
For checked baggage, allowances depend on travel class and fare type:
Business Class allows up to two pieces of 32 kg each, with the exception of the SEMIFLEX tariff group.
Economy Class ranges from no checked baggage to two pieces of 23 kg, depending on the fare type.
Frequent flyers and specific passenger categories may receive extra allowances.
Baggage dimensions must not exceed a total of 158 cm, and excess fees may apply.
Check-in
TAROM offers online check-in starting 30 hours before departure and closing 1 hour prior, allowing passengers to save time by checking in from home or office, selecting seats, and printing boarding passes with restrictions in some countries. This convenient option enhances the travel experience by providing flexibility and efficiency.
For airport check-in, TAROM opens counters 3 hours before departure and closes 45 minutes before. Deadlines may vary based on airport facilities and local regulations, especially for code-share and international flights. Passengers must adhere to these times to secure their seats, as TAROM reserves the right to allocate available seats after check-in closes.
Onboard Support
TAROM ensures safe and comfortable travel by offering special assistance to passengers needing extra support. Passengers must notify TAROM at least 48 hours before departure by completing the Information Sheet for Passengers Requiring Special Assistance. Services include medical equipment use and mobility assistance, with certain restrictions and possible additional fees. Pets are not allowed in the cabin for passengers requesting wheelchairs.
For unaccompanied minors aged 5 and older, TAROM provides dedicated assistance from departure to arrival. The service costs EUR 100 per international segment and EUR 60 per domestic segment. Accurate information must be submitted to prevent travel issues. This service is unavailable for children under 5, minors with disabilities, and has specific conditions for connecting flights and different service classes.
Refund & Cancellation
Unused tickets or portions can be refunded when the carriage is not fulfilled by the carrier or at the passenger’s request. Refunds are issued to the ticket holder or the payer upon presenting proof of purchase and surrendering all unused flight coupons.
Lost or stolen tickets may be refunded with proper documentation and applicable fees.
Involuntary refunds occur if TAROM cancels or significantly alters a flight, offering full or partial refunds based on usage.
Voluntary refunds by passengers are subject to service charges. Refunds adhere to government regulations and are typically processed in the original payment currency.
TAROM reserves the right to refuse refunds under specific conditions, such as applications made after six months or misuse of tickets.
