About Korean Air

About

Korean Air, established in 1969, is South Korea’s flagship carrier and one of the largest airlines in the world. Operating from its hub at Seoul Incheon International Airport, it offers a vast network of both domestic and international flights. Its cargo division, Korean Air Cargo, ranks as one of the largest cargo airlines in the world.

The airline serves a diverse range of destinations, including Austria, the Czech Republic, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, South Korea, the United Kingdom, the United States and more. Korean Air is also a founding member of the SkyTeam alliance.

Class of Travel

Economy Class offers services like advance seat selection, online check-in, and efficient baggage handling. Frequent Flyers enjoy priority boarding and faster baggage retrieval. Passengers can enjoy in-flight meals, wines, wake-up services, mood lighting, and diverse entertainment options.

Prestige Class passengers enjoy exclusive check-in counters, access to the Prestige Lounge, and pre-ordering in-flight meals via the Korean Air website or mobile app. Onboard, they indulge in gourmet dining, premium wines, and relaxation options like the Celestial Bar on A380 aircraft for a more comfortable journey.

First Class passengers receive premium care services from departure to arrival, including access to an exclusive check-in lounge at Incheon International Airport. They can pre-order gourmet meals, enjoy fine wines and champagne, and request for in-flight comfort clothing, ensuring a luxurious and restful flight.

Baggage Allowance

Korean Air’s baggage policy permits Economy Class passengers to carry one bag and one personal item with a combined weight not exceeding 10 kg. The carry-on must measure up to 115 cm, while the personal item should be within 40×30×15 cm.

First and Prestige Class travelers are allowed two carry-on bags totaling 18 kg, adhering to the same size restrictions.

Checked baggage allowances vary by destination and class:

Economy domestic flights permit up to 20 kg. Internationally, Economy saver, and non-saver, allows one 23 kg bag, except for America and Brazil.

Prestige domestic flights permit up to 30 kg. Internationally, Prestige Class can check two bags of 32 kg each, except for America and Brazil.

Internationally, First Class passengers may check three bags, each up to 32 kg, except for America and Brazil.

All checked bags must have total dimensions not exceeding 158 cm.

Frequent Flyer Programme

Korean Air's Frequent Flyer Programme begins with the SKYPASS Club, where members earn miles through flights, hotel stays, car rentals, and credit card usage. These miles can be redeemed for award tickets, seat upgrades, and family benefits.

As members advance to the Morning Calm Club, they gain access to an exclusive Morning Calm bag-drop counter, additional baggage allowances, priority handling of checked baggage, and enhanced lounge access.

Progressing to the Morning Calm Premium Club and Million Miler Club, members receive further privileges such as priority baggage handling, complimentary seat reservations in Economy class for international flights, and access to the Miler Club lounge. Million Miler Club members also benefit from exclusive hotline services and the ability to reserve extra legroom seats.

Across all tiers, members enjoy comprehensive benefits through the SkyTeam alliance, ensuring a superior and rewarding travel experience.

Check-in

Korean Air offers multiple check-in options to streamline the passenger experience.

Passengers can use self-service kiosks from 18 hours up to 30 minutes before departure for domestic flights and from 18 hours up to 1 hour before departure for international flights, provided they have confirmed e-tickets.

Auto check-in is available 48 hours before flights for eligible travelers who accurately enter their passport and contact information.

Alternatively, online check-in allows passengers to check in up to 48 or 24 hours before departure, avoiding queues and enabling seat changes.

For those ineligible for kiosks or online services, airport check-in counters are available. Passengers must arrive at least 30 minutes before domestic and 1 hour before international flights, ensuring all documents are prepared for a smooth boarding process.

Onboard Support

Korean Air provides unaccompanied minor services for children aged 5 to 11 on international flights and 5 to 12 on domestic flights. The service includes aisle seat assignments and dedicated staff assistance from check-in through arrival. Designated personnel accompany children through security, boarding the flight, and baggage claim until reunited with guardians.

Additionally, Korean Air offers comprehensive wheelchair services for passengers with reduced mobility. Assistance begins at the origin airport and continues to the destination, including onboard wheelchair availability. Passengers using their own wheelchairs must request services in advance, especially for oversized or electric models, ensuring proper handling and compliance with airline regulations.

Refund & Cancellation

Korean Air permits passengers to request refunds for flight tickets within 30 days of expiration by contacting their ticket agency. Refunds are available only to the passenger and may require additional documents if processed through a representative. Combined fares follow the most restrictive refund penalties, and award or group tickets have separate terms.

Refund penalties for international flights vary based on cancellation timing, with exemptions for requests made 91 days prior, involuntary refunds, or unused tickets within 24 hours of purchase.

Domestic flight refunds incur fees depending on fare class . Certain unused domestic tickets and involuntary refunds are exempt from penalties.
